The purpose of this article will not be to pick one [of laptop sleeve or laptop bag] over the other. Rather, the intention is to put forward some sort of exposé, with the hope of assisting you in making a choice between the two. Moreover, it needs to be said that picking any of the two, is defined more by the purpose each one of them satisfy.

As we began to evolve from the use of desktop computers to embracing laptops, it became necessary to have an item that would help us move this laptops from place to place. And this (need) has seen different brands swinging into action to produce several kinds of ‘carriage’ accessories. Among these, we have laptop sleeves and laptop bags.

Laptop Sleeves

Laptop sleeves are made to kind of ‘envelope’ your laptop in order to protect it from scratches or dents. They are usually made from plastic, leather, neoprene, and some other materials. Sleeves are lightly padded hence may not offer as much protection to your device as a bag would.

Laptop Bags

Unlike most sleeves, laptop bags can be used for long distance travels. This is simply because they are adequately padded and compartmentalized to hold your device safely. Laptop bags come in a variety of shapes, styles and sizes. There are those with wheels, adjustable straps as well as the ones having some distinctive features like battery chargers. Furthermore, the bags tend to be much more useful for carrying valuables beyond laptop

From the forgoing, it’s alright to conclude that you can choose between the two based on your work needs and/or how frequently you get to move around with your device. Again, it may not be out of place to own a bag and a sleeve at the same time.
